Wednesday Class 18/09/2013

Todays class was the last for the term. We learned about embedding Twitter onto our blogger and also creating the follow button to Twitter on our blog as well for Competency Task 3. Worse luck the computers at uni are not letting me embed my Twitter on my blog at this stage. So I will have to keep trying with this one. I also had to get Margie to help show how to do links for the five libraries for Competency Task 1 and also how to do Labels as well. I also rearranged my labels again with a bit of help from Margie.

I now hope I have finished Competency Task 1 for the five libraries and I hope I have not forgotten anything at all. See everyone in about two weeks and have an awesome holiday.

VICTORIA UNIVERSITY LIBRARY

I work at the Footscray Park Campus Library of Victoria University and I also study at the Nicholson Street Campus of Victoria University for the Library Tech course. The catalogue is good to use on the whole. It has it moments like all library catalogues. But I have been able to assist patrons with the use of it.


NATIONAL LIBRARY OF AUSTRALIA

I have chosen the National Library of Australia. As it's the national catalogue to find items around Australia. I have also used this occasionally for my own personal use and I have also used this if I have to help patrons find an item that Vic Uni Library does not have at all.


MARIBYRNONG PUBLIC LIBRARY

I have chosen the Maribyrnong Public Library service, as it's my local Library Service. I admit I haven't used it a great deal. But the catalogue has been fine to use.

MELBOURNE UNIVERSITY LIBRARY

I have chosen Melbourne University Library as another Library for that bit more diversity. I have gone to the main page where you can use the catalogue to search all the various branches of the library at once. Plus there is a link to the various branches of the Melbourne University Library as well for information. I've also noticed a link to facebook to like Melbourne University Library and also a link twitter to follow Melbourne University Library as well.


ALIA - THE AUSTRALIAN LIBRARY & INFORMATION ASSOCIATION

I have also chosen the ALIA (The Australian Library & Information Association website. Simply because AlIA is going to be and has already been mentioned heaps in the class and also in this course. Plus it has useful information for libraries as well. Plus librarians, library technicians are able to use it as well for information.

WEDNEDSAY CLASS 11/09/2013

In todays class we had to insert Youtube videos via the icon e.g. the Blogger icon onto our Blogger and also using the html code. Which Margie posted instructions in her blog, as she let us all know she was going to be late to class, which she went through with us in class when she arrived as well. I did have a bit of trouble with the html code. But Matt helped me with this thank goodness. I have also posted a funny library monologue video on my Facebook page. Plus Pratibha helped me with the social media platforms, as I got stuck.

Blog for Wednesday Class 4/09/2013

I was not able to get to class this day.   But in the mean time I have updated my blog entries.  I will be at class tomorrow morning all going well and shall get working on Competency Task 2.

Late Blog For Wednesday Class 28/08/2013

In todays class we worked more on Competency Task 1 inrelation to our blogs, Facebook, Pininterests and Twitter.  I followed more people on twitter.  Plus we learned more on twitter.  We learnt about linking our social media to each other inrelation to Competency Task 2.

Again in class worked on our blogs, Facebook, Pininterest and learned more about Twitter.  I also between this class and the next class created a twitter account.  We have to follow Margie and some of our classmates as well, which again like both facebook and pininterests it is to do with Competency Task 1.

In todays class we worked on our blogs, Facebook and Pininterests more and learnt more about them.  We also learned about using twitter. Plus had to look at Competency Task 1 on Webcity as well.

Another late blog for class.  In this class we worked on our blogs and Facebook.  Plus we had learnt about Pininterests and we had to set up an account, as this is like Facebook part of Competency Task 1 as well.  We added stuff about Libraries for instance.  Plus have to follow our teacher Margie and other people from this class.

Another late blog.  In this class more of what is going to be taught in this class was touched on.  Plus we worked on our blogs more as well.  Plus had to email link to our blog to Margie as well.

Late Blog for Wednesday Class on 17/07/2013

In this class it was more introductory of the subject Social Media Tools for the Library Studies course.  Our teacher Margie Anderson explained about needing to use Webcity.  Plus the social media tools we need to become familiar with and use for this class, which are Blogger, Facebook, Twitter, Piniterest for instance.

In todays class we set up our gmail accounts and our blog accounts.  Our blogs, facebook, etc are to separate accounts from our own ones that we already use.  In my case it is facebook.
